Guys, they just launched a new generation. Apparently starting in 2025, Gen Beta is beginning to be born. Us Zoomers have already had to deal with the Gen Alphas taking over with their Skibidi Rizz and whatnot, but now Beta is breathing down our necks? We have to start building our defenses and building them fast. It's funny how quickly you can watch yourself become the subject of the joke. We used to make fun of millennials for being too obsessed with Harry Potter and making cringe faces on the internet. Now we're getting heat for how rotted our brains are by TikTok. The tides keep turning, and we watch ourselves become the thing we once made fun of.

But I'm still a proud member of Gen Z. I think we have a lot going for us. We're quick with a joke, prioritize our mental health, and have a great sense of style (ignoring that time in 2019 when everyone was wearing weird silver jewelry from Hot Topic and calling ourselves e-girls and e-boys). Other than that, we have a lot going for us. If we didn't have Gen Z, we wouldn't have Billie Eilish, LED lights would remain on the shelves, and we'd still be using plastic straws.

Perhaps the best thing about being a member of Gen Z is our taste in memes. We like them irreverent, almost meaningless, and we like them dank. As the only generation who lived their whole childhoods with internet access, Gen Z is fluent in memes unlike any other. The older generations may have invented them, but we perfected them. We can make a meme out of anything, and we have. I think one of the major ways that Gen Z is going to be remembered is the fact that we memed every major historical event that we lived through, and we lived through a lot of them. It's our way of coping with the hectic world we were born into. We can't help but laugh because otherwise, we would cry. And though we love to post pictures of ourselves crying on Instagram, we don't want to cry all the time. So these memes are a great selection of some of Gen Z's taste in memes.
